ORGAN India launched a special initiative called “Let’s Get ORGANised” in 2015, with an aim to spread widespread awareness about organ donation among the youth and the children.
Using interesting audio-visual methods and an interactive flow, our team visits a school and conducts a short session with the senior students and the teachers.
The students usually take a lot of interest in the subject and ask a lot of questions. Towards the end of the session, a quiz is conducted with the students, where we see maximum enthusiasm and then reward them by small token prizes. The school is also given a few booklets on organ donation, which have been specifically designed for school students.
Through this special initiative, we include the most important part of our society – the youth, into the conversation of saving lives through organ donation. We do not encourage students to pledge their organs, but encourage them to have a conversation about the issue with their parents, siblings and friends, and be a part of the movement.
On May 18, 2017, the Directorate of Education, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi issued a Directive to allow ORGAN India to conduct a session on organ donation in all South and Central District Schools after consultation with us. We hope to cover all the schools in the entire National Capital Region of Delhi.
