On 5th of May, ORGAN India in collaboration with MSAI (Medical Students Association of India) and ZTCC (Zonal Transplant Coordination Centre) Pune, organised a workshop on the topic of “Introduction to Organ Donation & Transplantation” for all the members of MSAI during their general assembly meeting in Nashik.
The lectures were taken by Dr. Nagesh Aghor, a Consultant Nephrologist in Nashik, Dr. Kiran Sandhu, an intensivist from Nashik, Mayuri Barge, who is a Transplant Coordinator from Pune, and Arati Gokhale who is Chief Transplant Coordinator from ZTCC Pune. The topics covered were the THOTA Act, Donor management and Breaking Bad News, and the Scenario in India in Organ Donation and transplant. Various practical situations where ethical, legal, clinical and administrative dilemma are present were also discussed.
Dr. Prabhat Jha, President MSAI along with Dr. Neil M Salian, Vice President for External Affairs, MSAI welcomed to speaker and all participants and Dr. Sourabh Sharma, Manager, Projects & Outreach, ORGAN India gave vote of thanks in the last.
