Awareness at DELOITTE

On November 22, 2013 an awareness session on organ donation and transplantation at Deloitte India was conducted by Organ Receiving and Giving Awareness Network (ORGAN) India – an initiative by The Parashar Foundation, in partnership with the MOHAN Foundation, Delhi-NCR.

“Deloitte” is the brand under which tens of thousands of dedicated professionals in independent firms throughout the world collaborate to provide audit, consulting, financial advisory, risk management, and tax services to selected clients.

The session was a lead up to the “Impact Day” of the Foundation on October 29, 2013. Impact Day is an opportunity for Deloitte people to put their passion, determination, and skills to use for the benefit of their communities. They provide skills-based volunteering and a helping hand to hundreds of NGOs where they share their knowledge and expertise.

This year, Deloitte’s Delhi –NCR office has chosen Organ donation as one of the areas of support and has planned to put up information kiosks on November 29 in the common area the Cyber Hub, an area which attracts hundreds of employees from other offices as well. The employee volunteers sensitized during the talk will encourage people to visit the kiosks to seek information on organ donation and to sign up for the same. They will also organize similar talks at other offices.

The talk was initiated and planned by Ms, Sunayana Arora, ORGAN India. The session was conducted by Ms. Pallavi Kumar, Executive Director, MOHAN Foundation, Delhi-NCR. In her presentation she introduced ORGAN India as well as the MOHAN Foundation a partnership that exists to strengthen efforts to create more awareness. She also shared the dismal statistics with regard to organ donation in the country and wished there was more involvement of the Government to strengthen the deceased organ donation programme in the country and emphasized on how each person can proactively spread the word to promote the cause.
