Organ Donation Awareness Sessions in Haridwar, Uttarakhand

ORGAN India in collaboration with Young Indians conducted awareness sessions on organ donation in Haridwar on 23rd and 24th August, 2018. The sessions were conducted for the staff and workers of Kaane Industries and VLCC Personal Care Ltd. Industries on 23rd August, 2018. We also conducted an awareness session in Gurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar for the students and professors of Faculty of Management Studies in the University on 24th August, 2018.

The events were organized as part of a long term program to initiate discussion on Organ Donation in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. With no local organization working actively to create awareness around organ donation in the city, the sessions proved to be a great opportunity for us to take forward the cause of organ donation.

Dr. Geetika Vashisth, Senior Project Manager and Dr. Sourabh Sharma, Project Manager at ORGAN India conducted the sessions explaining various aspects related to organ donation, brain death, laws related to donation and transplantation etc. The sessions at the industries were attended by more than 200 staff and workers. The session at the university was attended by around 70-80 students.

The sessions included a 30-40 mins talk on organ donation followed by Q&A round where audience members put up their queries. Most of them had heard about organ donation for the first time and therefore showed great interest in knowing more about it. Short videos on organ donation were also showed to the audience.
We appreciate the support of Mr. Jeetendra Dharewa and Mr. Praveen Dugar from Kaane Industries; Mr. Ashok K Rajput and Mr. Nishant from VLCC Personal Care Ltd.; Mr. Pankaj Kaushik and Prof. Pankaj Madan from the University for facilitating these sessions and giving us an opportunity to talk about the cause of organ donation.
