On 9 August 2026, Sunayana Singh, CEO of ORGAN India, joined Healing Our Earth, an online event produced by Kirit Mistry, South Asian Health Action in partnership with Rotary Club of Organ Donation UK. It was a special episode marking World Organ Donation Day, titled “Team India 2027: A Journey Beyond Survival.” The conversation explored the inspiring journey of India’s transplant athletes at the World Transplant Games, from the team’s early participation and its growing success on the international stage, to its ambitious plans for the 2027 World Transplant Games in Leuven, Belgium. Sunayana spoke about how transplant athletes are living proof of what is possible after transplantation. At the 2023 World Transplant Games in Perth, Team India won 35 medals. The team went on to achieve an even bigger milestone at the 2025 Games in Dresden, with 57 athletes bringing home 63 medals. The discussion also looked ahead to Leuven 2027, where Team India is preparing for another major international sporting event, and the need for strong partnerships to make that a reality. From the determination of individual athletes to the work involved in building and supporting a national team, the episode, attended by Doctors and organ donation stakeholders highlighted a powerful message: a transplant is not the end of a journey, it can be the beginning of a whole new one.
