Indian Society of Transplant Surgeons – Deceased Donor Family Experiences
On March 19, 2026, ORGAN India was invited by the Indian Society of Transplant Surgeons to conduct a special session during their three-day conference held at Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research.
Titled “Deceased Donor Family Experience,” the session was led by Sunayana Singh, CEO of ORGAN India. She invited two families of deceased organ donors to share their deeply personal experiences at the hospital, shedding light on the emotional journey they underwent and the factors that encouraged them to consent to organ donation.
The session offered invaluable insights for the attending doctors, students, and medical professionals, emphasizing the human side of organ transplantation in India, an aspect that is often overshadowed by clinical and surgical considerations.
Among those present were Dr. Harsh Jauhari, President ISTS, Dr. Ashish Sharma, Head Department of Renal Transplant Surgery, PGIMER, Chandigarh & Organizing Chairman ISTS, Dr. Kajal Jain, Professor & Head, Department of Anesthesia and Intensive Care along with several senior doctors and members of the transplant community.
