Haryana CMGGA Program

In January 2020, ORGAN India was invited to be a part of Haryana’s ‘Ang Daan Yojana,’ a flagship scheme to create awareness on organ donation, launched under the able guidance of the Honourable Chief Minister of Haryana, Sh. Manohar Lal Khattar. It was launched as a pilot in four districts of Haryana – Gurugram, Panchkula, Rohtak and Faridabad – under the Chief Minister’s Good Governance Associates Program.

ORGAN India signed an MOU with 4 districts to promote organ donation under this CMGGA Program over the past 3 years.

As the advocacy partner of the Ang Daan Yojana, ORGAN India organised several events and activities to sensitise people on how organ donation can save lives. Posters, banners, brochures, school booklets, short films, gifs, animations, and several other Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials were developed to create awareness among the people through different platforms across the year.

Furthermore, ORGAN India CEO, Sunayana Singh, is a part of the Expert Committee on Organ Donation to advise the State Government and SOTTO (State Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization) on matters relating to ‘Ang Daan Yojana’.

Films, Animations & IEC Materials for Healthcare Centres, RTOs, Schools, Colleges & Public Areas

Gifs for Students & General Public: When the world closed down to curb COVID-19 pandemic, messages through audio-visuals and animated films made a huge impact. Upon request from CMGGA (Chief Ministers Good Governance Associates of Haryana), we made a 5-minute animated gif for school students and members of the public to be able to understand organ donation. Five-minute animated gifs on organ donation were also made for students and the public. The District Administration of the four districts used the animated gifs to reach out to thousands of young and old people.

Animations for Public Areas & RTOs: A special video on organ donation and transplant was given to the Road Transport Offices all Districts to run on their TV screens to sensitise the thousands of people who come through the RTO on organ donation and transplant.

District Gurugram

ORGAN India signed an MoU with the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Gurugram wherein several advocacy strategies were planned. It included organising radio programmes, camps and seminars, training workers, and providing IEC materials for display in all hospitals and major intersections across the district. Several events were organised in collaboration with the DC Office, Gurugram, to reach out to students, teachers, government employees, and the public.

“Jeevan: Ek Anmol Uphaar”, a radio programme on Organ, Tissue, and Body Donation, was broadcast on Gurgaon Ki Awaaz, a community radio station in Gurugram. The programme which is broadcast once a week informs people about organ donation and transplantation, including how to deal with dialysis and other situations during the illness, treatment, and recovery phase.

District Panchkula

Our ‘Ang Daan Yojana’ initiatives took flight in the other Districts of Haryana. ORGAN India has signed an MoU with the Deputy Commissioner Panchkula, Shri Mukesh Ahuja, District Panchkula in 2020 to carry out activities on Organ Donation and Transplant in the District as a part of the CMGGA Program of the Haryana Government.

Since then, several activities were carried out in the district under this MoU.

Awareness sessions for teachers and heads of schools and students, to major events such as a Seminar Training & Sensitisation Session on Organ Donation and Transplantation at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Panchkula in association with ROTTO Chandigarh were held. Representatives of the public and private sector hospitals attended the Seminar.

In Panchkula, ORGAN India is closely helping a government hospital set up their organ donation and transplant program. The Civil Hospital Panchkula is now fully capable of declaring brain deaths and responding to people’s queries on organ donation and transplant, as well as registering the public for organ donation.

The staff is now getting the benefit of training through webinars and future trainings to be able to become a retrieval and transplant centre soon. This is a highlight as the best doctors from around India will come to the webinars and kick off the process of training the Doctors, Nurses, and other staff member, thereby leading the way for government hospitals to become retrieval and transplant centres. This is critical as currently Haryana has no government transplant centre.

IEC Material at Civil Hospital Panchkula: New Initiatives were undertaken by us to reach the thousands of people coming to Civil Hospital Panchkula daily. Huge banners as well as a wall painting have been put around the Hospital.

District Rohtak

At Rohtak District, ORGAN India have signed two MoUs with the District Administration over the past two years and have held many events as well as installed IEC Materials in the District.

Awareness with heads of schools and principals, students at schools and colleges in the area is a major thrust of our campaign in the district, as well as engagement with the public through events such as Rahagiri and IEC materials.

2 seminars on organ donation and transplantation have been organised in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer, District Rohtak, for all doctors in the district, with eminent speakers travelling to Rohtak.

The Road Transport Office presented an audio-visual to sensitise thousands of people visiting the RTO on organ donation and transplantation.

A webinar was also organised for MBBS students in collaboration with PGIMS Rohtak and State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation, Haryana on December 20, 2020.

ORGAN India has installed IEC Material in 18 Primary and Community Health Centres across the District, as well as a wall painting at Civil Hospital, Rohtak. also did trainings, seminars and awareness talks in various schools, colleges, PHCs, CHCs, and other hospitals.

District Faridabad

Over 19 transplant recipients and living donors. Manav Rachna Educational Institutions and Dr. O P Bhalla Foundation are supporting Organ Receiving and Giving Awareness Network (ORGAN INDIA) to train athletes who will represent India at the World Transplant Games.
